Staff Profile - Lisa
I graduated as a Homeopath from the Bay of Plenty college of Homeopathy in 2007. Originally interested in Naturopathy, it wasn't until I had a consultation with a Homeopath, with such fast and profound results, which then fired my passion for this modality.
Because Homeopathy is a truly holistic medicine, it is safe and gentle to use from neonates to the elderly. Consultations look beyond the presenting complaint, to the totality of symptoms that a person experiences on all levels, and how it impacts on their ability to function in their life. A prescription is then individualized to fit the clients own unique symptoms.
Homeopathy is useful for acute situations such as first aid, common cold, flu, childhood illnesses etc to longer standing chronic complaints such as asthma, eczema, arthritis etc.
Emotional or neurodevelopmental problems are also effectively supported with homeopathy, and can include issues such as depression, anxiety, phobias, autism spectrum disorders, hyperactivity, ADHD's etc.
As Homeopathy has such a broad scope of practice, there is always something to learn, and I enjoy attending conferences and seminars to broaden my knowledge base. I hope to start my internship to become a registered member on the NZ council of Homeopaths next year once I have completed my National Diploma in Ambulance Practice.
(My other passion is emergency medicine and as a volunteer ambulance officer, I also get to broaden my knowledge in orthodox practice. I firmly believe that there is a place for all modalities of medicine to work alongside and complement one another.)
At the Last NZ conference I attended , I was inspired by an Australian Homeopath who has had remarkable results treating children with autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. This is an area that I am especially interested in becoming more experienced in, in my own practice.
My other area of interest is dermatological problems and I have clients that have had amazing improvements in their eczema complaints.
Come and meet me in store on Tuesdays and Fridays or I have a clinic at home on Mondays and Thursdays, and hopefully you wont see me on a Wednesday... as that's my ambulance day!
