From humble beginnings, our lovely store (Taranaki’s original organic shop!) has evolved into a hub of holistic health, full of everything you need— plus the inspiration and support—to live a balanced and wholesome life.
While the world has changed markedly since Dave Marshall and Keith Plumber-Butt opened Down to Earth Organics over 40 years ago, our mission and values remain steadfast: to supply quality, ethically and sustainably produced, organic and natural products that promote wellness and long-term care of the environment.
Our store is a one-stop supermarket stocking a full range of organic produce, meats, and wholefoods. We combine this with an extensive range of plant-based alternatives, supplements, bespoke herbal remedies, sustainable cleaning products, clean beauty, personal care and eco lifestyle homewares.
The availability of natural products is forever increasing as more people tune into the benefits of living more naturally – but unfortunately, as the market grows, so does the greenwashing. We make sure every supplier lives up to Down to Earth’s high expectations and are as committed to environmental and socially sustainable practices and values as we are. One of our dedicated health practitioners personally checks every product before it goes on our shelves, making sure everything we sell is as clean as possible.
As old school friends who share a passion for ethical entrepreneurship and the benefits of holistic living and wellness, we are thrilled to be the latest custodians of this Taranaki icon. It is important to us that we honour Down to Earth’s intergenerational legacy and continue the spirit of innovation, community, and independence the store has always championed.
We are proud to collaborate with like-minded locals around our Maunga and Aotearoa. Alongside the best from around the world, you will find a growing range of goodies on our shelves from local organic producers and artisans specialising in natural products – like Down to Earth co-founder Keith who supplies us with his incredible natural honey, locally harvested in the Kaitake Ranges. We have also introduced online-shopping, a bulk refillery station, and we are excited to be increasing our offering of new and exciting brands.
Down to Earth’s people are our point of difference. We have a dedicated team who genuinely care about improving people’s lives naturally. Most days holistic practitioners are in store and happily offer personalised advice about how you can benefit from our ranges of wholefood supplements, homeo- botanicals, homeopathic remedies, and our extensive in-store herbal dispensary.
